Back To Work!

Wednesday, September 24, 2008

After no electricity and not working, I feel completely out sorts. However, I have jumped back in and have a new batch coming out. I'll post new pictures soon.

Lessons 101

Wednesday, September 10, 2008

While at the festival, I had several people approach me about giving lessons on the wheel.  After giving it some time and consideration, I have come up with outline.  Lessons will be private.  I can work with people on how we will deal with supplies on an individual basis.  Some may prefer to get their own supplies while others may prefer assistance.  I also feel that as students grow, they will want more time to practice outside of lessons.  So, I will also offer studio time where one could come and work on his/her own. Also, I will fire students' work completed during lesson time for free.  I will be placing an ad in the local paper in the next week, as well.  Please let me know if you are interested.

Lessons: $15 per/hr
Studio Time: $8 per/hr

My First Festival Event

Just this past Saturday, I took part in my first festival. Marengo Cave contacted me to see if I would be interested in participating at the celebration for the 125th anniversary of the cave's discovery. Through out the day I was busy working with children in the hands on area. The kids got to make coil pots and pinch pots. By the end of the day, they had made over a hundred pots. In between the rushes, I did several demos on the wheel. During the demos, I answered questions from the various people who crowded around to see. Marengo Cave was also generous enough to allow me to set a display of my work to sell, too. All in all, it was a great experience!
